    Always apply oil or lotion first A thin layer lets the scraper glide instead of drag. Skipping this is the single most common cause of skin redness.

    Start at intensity 1 — climb from there Easier than you think you need. Move up to 2 or 3 only after the muscle has visibly softened. More is not better.

    Glide with the muscle, not against it Follow the direction of the muscle fibers. For most major groups that means heart-ward — toward the trunk of the body.

How is this different from a massage gun?
A massage gun percusses with a small head. It's great for trigger points but skips over large areas. TOAI glides along the muscle with a wide curved edge, adding heat and microcurrent. You cover more area, release more fascia, and don't fight the buzz of a percussion motor. Different tool for different work — though most people retire their massage gun after switching.
Do I need to use oil or lotion?
Yes — every time. A thin layer of body lotion, massage oil, or any unscented lubricant lets the scraper glide instead of drag. Skipping this step is the #1 reason new users get redness. Even a small amount works. The included single-use packet is enough to learn the technique; after that, any body lotion does the job.
How long should a session be?
Three to five minutes per muscle group. Thirty to sixty seconds per spot, then move on. Don't grind on one place. The full body-recovery routine takes 15–20 minutes; the targeted lower-back routine takes 5. Most users do a short session every evening and a longer one twice a week.
Where should I NOT use it?
Avoid bony areas (the spine, the shins, the kneecaps), broken or irritated skin, bruises, varicose veins, the abdomen during pregnancy, and anywhere you've had recent surgery. If you have a medical condition or are unsure, ask your doctor before use. The free Body Map (above) shows every safe zone and every avoid zone clearly.
Is it loud?
Under 50 dB at the highest vibration setting. Quiet enough to use while watching TV, on a video call (muted), or with a partner in the same room. Quieter than most electric toothbrushes.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the stainless head with a damp cloth after each use. For deeper cleaning, isopropyl alcohol on a cloth, then dry. Never submerge the device. The head detaches for easier cleaning between sessions.
